about

A debut EP by a quirky, electro, pop project, that is spearheaded by the singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Onah Indigo. Noaccordion’s songs have been described as “full of hooks”, “retro yet futuristic” and sounding like “Portishead meets the B52’s”. Noaccordion questions society about what it tells us not to do and why, while taking you on a wild ride echoing a European Cabaret Show coupled with 80’s Pop and 90’s Dance sounds.

This debut EP was co-produced by Onah Indigo(producer, singer, songwriter, multi instrumentalist) and Sean Ingoldsby(producer, engineer, musician). From 2008 to 2010 tucked up in the hills of southern California weekly recording sessions in Sean’s red barn took place. Magic occurred as Onah finally committed to releasing some of her songs and investing in a good engineer and recording space to do it. Not only did she learn a lot while watching Sean work as an engineer, he also contributed as a producer as well and laid down some great guitar, bass and vocal parts. The project became a creative collaboration with a fusion of styles between Onah and Sean.

The name Noaccordion was inspired by a sign Onah saw posted on a building on the Internet that warned of no accordions. Having just been given an accordion, she wondered what raucous behavior must have been happening around that building to cause such an accordion ban. Onah does not like to be told what to do and seeing a sign like that just encourages her to play more music. However, since she started playing the accordion over a year ago she has also witnessed various reactions to accordions. “It seems that people either love them or they can’t stand them,” exclaims Onah, “I have had people come up to me blissed out by the ethnic, sonic experience and others have begged me to please stop playing that loud thing.” Onah’s main instrument, the keyboard, has never even generated a ripple in all these years.

Noaccordion’s main musical influences have been British Electronica, Chopin, Debussy, Satie, Lamb, Massive Attack, Tricky, Cocteau Twins, Propellerheads, Portishead, Drum n Bass, Trip Hop, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Tom Waits, B52’s, Bill Withers, X, Stevie Wonder, Thievery Corporation, Air, and Dan the Automator. Onah Indigo is a sonic and visual artist who has been based mainly in Italy, Britain and California, USA.
